In Full Colour - reviewed on 06/29/01
Artist: DARIO G
Label: 2001 Manifesto Records (UK)
Style: Contemporary Dance
Index #: 5488763 Manifesto
You should be familiar
with DARIO G. and their club hit back from 1997 "Sunchyme"
or "Carnaval de Paris". DARIO
G. is a duet of PAUL SPENCER (born in England) and INGRID
STRAUMSTOYL (born in Norway) both now residing in Manchaster, UK.
The project itself was formed when Paul Spencer met producer
Scott Rosser back in his college years. The project didn't have
female vocalist, Ingrid joined them back in 2000. "In
Full Colour" is the project's second album after their
back in 1998. . Recently you might recognize their "Dream
To Me" tune originally recorded by CRANBERRIES back
in 1992. This tune topped as the third most popular title in their career.
What we have in new album is a truly diversified sound. By all means
it is not just a dance album but rather an eclectic journey to the sound
with strong emphasis on the lyrics and rarely used instruments. It will
be very hard to define the style of the album, because as I said it's
quite eclectic. So you will have some POP,
some DANCE, some NEW
AGE etc. The album starts with "Don't
You Cry". This is beautifully crafted DANCE
tune with amazing Ingrid voice and choirette in the background. Of course
"Dream To Me" is also there.
DARIO G. gave this CRANBERRIES' tune additional twist,
beatiful production indeed. There are actually many good tunes to listen
to. You should like "Say What's On Your Mind"
released as a single, or "Deja Vu"
done in transcendental HOUSE. For some
more EURO-TRANCE oriented sound turn for
"Never Too Late". The album closes
"Strobe" a dramatic epilog of
the journey! In sound sampler I featured 6 tunes taken from this album

We Bring Noise - reviewed on 06/26/01
Label: 2001 Sheffield Tunes/Edel Records (Germany)
Index #: 0110552 STU
Fans of SCOOTER
were patiently waiting for the new album by this German group that has
been part of TECHNO scene for many years.
As you might remember few weeks SCOOTER released single "Posse
(I Need You On The Floor)" (check VIDEO
SECTION for clip of this tune) from this newly released album
entitled "We Bring The Noise". This
is indeed a very interesting and rewarding release. The album starts
with CELTIC intro tune "Habibi
Halua". Slow and mystic tune leading you to the entrance
of PROGRESSIVE TECHNO world. Yeah! It follows
by forementioned "Posse (I Need You On The
Floor)" the tune that will make your blood boiling. As a
matter of fact SCOOTER will keep you in this mood for most of
the playing time. "Acid Bomb"
is a speedy TECHNO as well, brilliantly
structured as a contemporary blaster with stron UNDERGROUND
undertone. Title song "We Bring The Noise"
is another stomper. The beginning features electronically stimulated
beating heart at higher rate. Yeah! Keep the heart pumping the blood.
Synths are again powerful and exciting with riveting melody and shouting
H.P. Baxxter! What else can you expect? "R
U Happy?" is a dub tune yet it's beat and drum work makes
this one an incredible offering for a club scene. Dramatic melodic line
will send you to orbit!. What makes this album unique in SCOOTER
career, is it's richness in sound and creativity. Probably one of the
best albums in their career. I do not exaggerate. You will not hear
just what you can easily expect from SCOOTER but much much more.
For instance "So What' cha Want?"
is a combination of TECHNO sound with some
DISCO buttom! No kidding! The effect is
quite surprising! For the HOUSE-oriented
crowd SCOOTER gave "Burn The House".
This is not just a HOUSE tune, but rather
BREAK BEAT. Synthesized voices also sound
cool! If you listen to it carefully, you will also hear some U 96
reminescence. Taken together, we have here very well done album, fans
of SCOOTER will warmly welcome! Once again SCOOTER proves
to be refreshing and creative! Way to go boys! In sound sampler I featured

Future Girls - reviewed on 06/26/01

my! I am really shifting gears. From PROGRESSIVE
sound to more "cheezy" EURO/POP
sound from Denmark. Several days ago I reviewed a debut album by another
Danish project FEM@LE. Now it is time for SMILE. Album
"Feature Girls" by
SMILE is not really an ambitious one, but it delivers happy
sound. The tunes are rather naive music-wise, the lyrics are simple,
but that doesn't mean that album is bad. As a matter of fact it is
very nice release following DANISH dance-scene trends. This duo of
two grown-up girls: MALIN and VERONICA deliver catchy
tunes you would like to listen to or dance to at your will. This second
group's album starts with the title song "Future
Girls". This is probably one of the best tunes in this
offering. It get's close to blasting EURODANCE,
so all of you who likes this style, will like this fare as well. Sparkling
production, with good synths work, and fine blue-eyed female. "Doo-Be-Di-Boy"
doing great in Japanese market. Done in scoring EUROBEAT
style, this one is an another example of extremely happy tune! You
should also fall in love with "Hollywood".
This one fall into POP/DISCO category.
Very catchy and delightful! Well... girls also do some slower tunes,
if you would like to catch a little break. "Counting
On You" is one example. This is rather slower POP
serving as a chiller, yet the sound is very smooth and pleasurable
to listen to. Not to worry, right after this comes "Dancing
All Alone" with energy and rhythm to make you leave your
chair and start jumping! Other tunes like "Heal
My Broken Heart" or "Kissy
Kissy" are another examples of funny and happy tunes!
Taken together, if you would like to have an easy going dance
album, you will plant your money well. In sound sampler I featured
6 tunes taken from this album. Support this project and get
the album! Enjoy!

have recently reviewed in SINGLES
REVIEWED in 2001 Section FANCY's recent single "Na
Na Na Na Hey Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye". I then was disspointed
with the RAP strings he used and being successful in hiding his wonderful
voice. You shouldn't blame me that I was curious to learn what FANCY
has in his current music portfolio to show in his "brand new"
album. Well, here I was again for dissapointment. I am not sure what
FANCY is trying to do, but I am not happy. First of all, FANCY
followed approach from 1991 album: "Deep
In My Heart", the 6th in his music career. He employed
then mediocre RAPPER that supposedly should give FANCY a "facelift".
Secondly, "Fancy For Fans"
actually contains some "remakes?" of the titles featured
in that dreadful album like "Slice Me Nice/S.L.I.C.E",
"Fools Cry/Whenever Fools Cry" for instance. All
of them were "HIP-HOP" type
remakes of original DISCO tunes. I also
never liked what was done to my favorite FANCY's tune "Flames
Of Love" in the 6th album and now I hear this selfinflicted
harakiri again in this new album. I might be a little harsh, but you
cannot blame me that I heard before the beauty of the original sound
and the unforgettable FANCY's voice. Now, I am being exposed
to combination of female choirette in the background, RAPPER that
is trying to make a HIP HOP out of DISCO,
a totally horrid experience. I am just curious, why FANCY didn't
try more EURO-TRANCE oriented approach,
if he really wanted to sport something new. As a matter of fact such
sound was tried in one of his previous album: "D.I.S.C.O."
Well, he then was supported by the BROS team and it is too bad, he
didn't turn for assistance to them again! If you never heard FANCY
before, this album will not give the justice to his musical talent
and vocal capabalities. If you ever try to jugde FANCY based
on this release. please do not! Check previous releases they do better
justice than this release. As a bonus, you will find a MEGA Mix MAXI
featuring 9 tunes. I used it for the sound sampler. Should you consider
the purchase? It's up to you. Being myself a die hard fan of FANCY's
talent, I will buy anything that bears his name on it. It's part of
DISCO style cult! Listen to sound sampler
and make up your own mind. You might actually used to it after listening
the album several times. Actually the megamix does not reflect very
well the climate of the album, since the megamix is actually likeable!

presented CAATER album was released in Finnland back in April
and now also in Denmark. This project originally comes from small
Baltic country: ESTONIA. It started about 4 years ago when two producers
and one of the best deejays in Estonia: KALLE KUKK (27) and
MARKKU TIIDUMAA (24) both born in Tallinn, got together and
established a group called CAATER. The name of the project
in Estonian language stands for a "speedboat". CAATER
themselves describe their music as mix of TRANCE
and EURODISCO with ingredients of HOUSE
and TECHNO. Group released already several
albums and singles not only in Estonia but also in other coutries
like Denmark or Finnland, to mention the few.
"King Size" album features 12 tracks and among
of them are titles previously released as singles: "Free
My Body" (2001), "Dance With
You" (2000) - this one was their truly international success
with title released in Finland, Estonia, Denmark, Italy, Norway and
Sweden, "Phantom" (2000) and
"Hold That Sucker Down" (2000).
You might remember this title since it was a club hit originally done
by OT QUARTET back in 1994. Of course there are more tunes in this album and
most of them are done in TRANCE and TECHNO
style. The music is mesmerizing epics with
amazing breaks, loops, intense synthesizers and great production. Very
good album and I am happy that I was able to "discover"
this group and present their music to you. Album also contains a bonus:
VIDEO clip to their hit "Dance With You".
I recommend this album for fans of quality TRANCE & TECHNO
sound. This album is anything but short of this music. You will enjoy
it immenesely! In sound sampler I featured 6 tunes from this album!

are back with full lenght album "Nighclubbing".
You have been introduced to this album with recently released singles
such as "Beyond Time" or "Djs,
Fans & Freaks". Let me tell you, both were only appetizers
and you just gotta try the main course!!! Album features twelve tunes
(two of them are mentioned above titles) and they are ... HOT! Both
DJs decided to make this album more in TRANCE
style than anything else. They are not just TRANCE
tunes, they are materpieces of this genre! Right from "Invocatio"
that is a dark prelude, you are being prepared to what you will soon
be encountering ans unforgettable treat! The title track "Nightclubbing"
starts as uptempto electronic marvel. It builds into a full room TRANCE
monster! It has something from "The Nightfly"
(probably the female vocal). Gorgeous tune. Well... nothing short
from gorgeous in this album. For instance "Le
Grand Bleu" gets a percolating treatment with slammin'
synthesizers that surely can cause pandemonium in the dance floor.
You will love build-ups and some DREAMy
midsection! For some of you who prefer more HARD
TECHNO oriented sound group gave "Tribal
Attack". I was just stunned by the quality of music put
into one small CD. Another tracks like "Darkness"
gave me an mind-stimulating trip to fantasy. This one is not only
beatifully crafted TRANCE tune but also infectious chart-charging
synth beauty! If you are lucky enough to get LIMITED DOUBLE CD edition
you will be rewarded with second CD featuring AMBIENT
remixes of three tunes from this album. I have to congratulate BLANK
& JONES for such an inspiring and well balanced album. Truly an
oustanding release in electronic world of dance. In sound sampler
I featured 6 tunes from this album representing mainly TRANCE style,
but trust me there is more! This one you gotta have it, no matter
what! For now enjoy the sound that will stay with you for a while!
This album is now part of my 6 CD changer in my car and will stay
there for a while! Guaranteed!

Artist: BROOKLYN BOUNCE
Label: 2001 Sony Music / Dance Division (Germany)
Style: PROGRESSIVE HOUSE
Index #: DAD 502497 2
BOUNCE has recently released several singles and all of them with
great success. "Born To Bounce"
or "Bass, Beats & Melody"
climbed into high position not only on German charts but also in other
European countries. Both singles are featured in this album among
other 17 tunes. Be prepared for hard charged PROGRESSIVE
HOUSE journey throughout. This is not release for introvertic
characters, but rather for those who are into aggressive sound and
hard beat! Plenty of them in here! You will be transported to the
world od heavy drums, beats and bass! Geez! it sometimes even have
a METAL ROCK feel in it like in "Are
You Ready For The Bazz?" If you are ready for psychedelic
trip, take your seat and make sure you that your safety belts are
locked, the drive is bumpy! Among some interesting interpretations
is U 96's "Club Bizzare"
done in PROGRESSIVE style with tantalizing
female vocals and DIABLO's male vocal hooks. Plenty of DRUM'N'BASS
in this album. One of the examples of this style is presented in "Sample
Slayer" where this style co-exists with hard charged TECHNO-HOUSE.
Another TECHNO-HOUSE stamper is "No
Compromise" with exquisite bass, low-flying synths and
hitting the roof electronics. This one is MASSIVE! For some BREAK
BEATS style visit "French Bounce".
If you didn't have enough of HARD TECHNO,
"The Dawn" is just around the
corner. Another example where group utilized a combination of female
and male vocals with massive and intoxitating beats. If you want to
hear how the RAP works with HEAVY
METAL and TECHNO in one, you can.
Just check "If You Wanna Ride (Honey, Honey,
Honey)". Taken together, the album is something else.
You really need to have steel personality not to get involved with
it! The rhythm is so powerful, you will not resist it. No wonder,
after all it is BROOKLYN BOUNCE and in quite new "image".

cute blond girls from Danmark are behind FEM@LE project. They
are: TANYA THORUP, STINE KRONBORG MIKKELSEN and DITTE WAGNER.
What they do like to do is to take a classic DANCE/POP
tune and transform it to a modern TRANCY
sound tune. That is what they have done with such tunes as "Lambada"
originally by KAOMA so popular several years ago, "Leaving
A Jetplane" from JOHN DENVER's vault, "Centerfold"
from the reportoire of THE J. GEILS BAND (1981) or "Lollipop"
originally released in 1958 and performed by THE CHORDETTES. All these
titles were released as singles by the girls and are included in this
debut album. On the top of it, group added several other classics,
like my all-time-favorite SABRINA's track "Boys"
and their versions of such tunes as "Spin
Me Around", "(I've Had) The Time Of My Life"
or "Covergirls". This is very
cute album. Full of energy, power, smile and happiness. Truly a pleasure
to listen to. These "updated remixes" are really good and
fun to listen to. As a matter of fact friend of mine dropped by when
I was making the sound sampler and he immediately got addicted to

and TRANCE with some POP
elements retained here and there. Their vocal talent is also well
shown. Taken together this buy, if you will decide to purchase the

This album was released in ... September 2000. Well... I was trying to find it, but probably was not looking good enough, since it is available from AMAZON.COM or CDNOW. If some of you already heard it, please disregard it, but if you didn't, you should! I was following YAHEL with is recent releases and I am now very happy that this album is finally in my hand. YAHEL SHERMAN comes from ISRAEL. Until now we were not really that well exposed to the Isrealian dance scene, and it is shame. There are many projects out of that country that produces amazing TRANCE/TECHNO sound. YAHEL is one of talented people from ISRAEL that make the music you want to experience endlessly. The album "Waves Of Sound" is exactly it. The music is timeless, uplifting, chilling, emotionally charged. This is the journey for all of you who love TRANCE to death! YAHEL gave in this album rich compositions that you cannot afford to miss. Soaring melody, gorgeous keyboard, heavenly dazzling synth lines are explosive and mind-stimulating. The music flawlessly changes from one track to another. All 10 featured tracks take about 80 minutes to play, so we are talking extended listening experience. Something you can only appreciate when playing it loud in the club or headphones. Since you still can buy this album, you really should, if you already have it, cherish it! In sound sampler I gave you a mix with 6 tunes from this extraordinary offering. The only knowledge you can gain from it, is the style of the music, however you need to hear the entire album, to encounter the load of feelings this album is full of.

is a Belgian project of PIETER-JAN VERACHTERT (Peejay)
(born in 1981) and SAM HAUGLUSTAINEL. Both guys started their
professional relationship back in 1998 when they released first single
"Odin's Odyssey" followed by
"Love Her At The Meat Parade"
in 1999. Both singles were fairly successful. Real success came in
2000 with the release of the third single "The
6th Gate" reaching GOLD RECORD status and high rankings
in various European charts. The newest single "Judgment
Day" along with all previous released titles are included
in the project's debut album "Dance
With The Devil". The LIVE act of D-DEVILS includes
PEEJAY, MARCO (he gives the deep, dark trembling vocal
to all the tunes) and MAUDE. The album is recorded in DARK
TECHNO/PROGRESSIVE style. If one would like to make a comparison
with some current projects, D-DEVIL's music will be something
between 666, DAS SAINT, HYPETRAXX and BROOKLYN BOUNCE. The project
is young and so the music. The project definately has potential, but
they still have to mature. Sound is interesting but not innovative.
However, seems that they know what kind of music to play. Male vocal
by MARCO is not necessary the scarest thing I heard, yet it
has a dark tone and interesting sound. Taken together, the album is
appealing and entertaining. In sound sampler I featured 8 tunes
from this album for your enjoyment! I will be closely following this
group in the future.

is very unusual album in a sense. I am unfamiliar with this project,
I only know that this album was released in Denmark. INFËRNAL
presents an excellent album with many lavish TECHNO/TRANCE
oriented tunes with a powerful female vocals dominating throughout!
As a matter of fact group uses also richly drums so characterstics
for SAFRI DUO, the group that truly started storming all possible
dance charts. Don't get mislead though, album is very original itself.
You probably will not understand the language, but the music is universal.
The entire album is done as one long lasting mix, sort of story teller,
the way the first album by ENIGMA was done. "Intro"
is a very slow PROLOG. Sentimental and emotional to touch your mind
and stimulate your imagination. It transforms than in "Serengeti"
to a dramatic, full house electronic beauty where you start hearing
drums. They will stay through the whole story. "Sunrise"
is almost classic EURODANCE but heavily
enriched by electronic sound. The female vocal is just plain KILLER!
Truly amazing tune to satisfy anyone who are into quality DANCE.
"Turkish Bazaar" is heavily
loaded with drums, yet you have heavy influence of exotic EASTERN
sound. Very interesting combination of more traditional ARABIC sound
with forefront TECHNO rhythm. On the
slower side is "Humbled By Nature"
followed by EURO-TRANCE marvel "Living
Under Water". There are other tunes that should take your
heart as well. This album as I said is a bit different to what you
usually hear. The fascinating thing about it is that you have a very
rare opportunity to be exposed to such combination of ORIENTAL sound
fused with modern and dramatic TECHNO
sound. Not everybody will be thrilled, even if they should. Listen
to the sound sampler and you probably understand what I mean. I do
recommend this album to anyone who has taste in the current dance
music. You will be rewarded! The sound sampler features 6 tracks taken

Artist: ARMIN VAN BUUREN
Label: 2001 United Recordings (Holland)

Fans of quality PROGRESSIVE/TRANCE
sound should be familiar with ARMIN VAN BUUREN. Along with
DJ TIËSTO, FERRY CORSTEN and others he is now one of the
most prominent DJs in Dutch scene. Being only 25 years old he acomplished
a lot. He released his first vinyl "Push"
back in 1995, however 1999 was the year that turn his carrer path.
He released many his own tracks like "Touch
Me" (under the name RISING STAR), "The
Sound Of Goodbye" and several others on various labels
including his own: ARMIND. What made him also very famous were remixes
he done and still making. He also joined forces with DJ TIËSTO
in producing "Wonder Where Are You?"
by MAJOR LEAQUE or "Exhale"
with FERRY's CORSTEN project: SYSTEM F. He released
several compilations. Among them was "Armin
Van Buuren 001- A State Of Trance" where he presented
his TRANCE side. Today I present you:
"Armin Van Buuren 002- Basic Instinct"
that is far more eclectic than the previous release. As a matter of
fact this album containing 27 tracks is profoundly diversified in
sound. You have PROGRESSIVE, TECHNO and
TRANCE sound perfectly balanced showing
you many faces of Armin. What Armin did was that he compiled
what he calls the most memorable moments of his recent sets and there
were many of them, since he was busy in places like Ibiza, Tokyo,
Hague, Maastricht, Crete, Scotland and many, many more. To get an
idea what's you might be facing, you should listen to a sound sampler
in which I mixed 8 tracks from both CDs. Once again, let me remind
you that you will encounter several electronic styles in this album,
not just TRANCE as you might recall when you listened his previous
releases. This is a good album and well mixed from vinyls, so some
scratches are here and there. That makes this offering even more interesting,
especially from DJs point of view. For now enjoy the sound from this
very talented DJ.

am finally able to review the debut album by Belgian project of SYLVER.
It was actually released several weeks month in Belgium and it was
available only locally. However due to the enormous success of their
single "Turn The Tide" , album
was recently released in Germany. So what I am presenting is a German
release. Few word about this Belgian project. It consists of SILVY
DE BIE (born in 1981) and matermind producers: WOUT VAN DESSEL
(born in 1974) and REGI PENXTEN (born in 1976). Both Silvy
and Wout met for the first time in Illusion, the club where Wout
is resident DJ and where Silvy was often going. At that time
Wout had started producing "Turn The Tide".
He was looking for female vocalist and ask Silve to give it a try.
The result was very good, so that how Silvy became a voice behind
the project's first single back in 2000 released in Belgium under
LIQUID feat. SILVY. The project recently changed it's name
to simply: SYLVER to avoid legal litigation from an Irish band
LIQUID that claimed the name first. After the first single
came "Skin" in January 2001 and recently
(on April 09, 2001) the third single: "Forever
In Love". All three titles are featured in this album.
Stylewise it is TRANCE album with EURO
ingredients. Not exactly the same style as RIMINI PROJECT reviewed
couple of days ago. The tracks are powerful and beatifully produced
and arranged but compared with RIMINI PROJECT fall more into
TRANCE and TECHNO
than EURO. Most of the tracks represents
this style and remind a bit what LOVE INC. did in their recently
released album. One would appreciate very imaginative synth lines
and Silvy's vocal abilities that make these tunes sound incredibly.
Some fares are done a little bit differently. For instance "In
Your Eyes" falls more into slow POP,
"Mystery Of Tomorrow" has a
lot of NRG built in, "The
Edge Of Life" incorporated BREAK
BEAT. Album features also cleverly "hidden" tracks.
While the last tune has play time of 4:24 minutes in fact it is almost
24 minutes long. Basically, after the last tune "Secrets"
is finished there is almost 2 minutes period of silence, so if you
remove the CD from CD player you will miss it. Insted, just wait until
2 minutes passed and you will be delighted to listen to "extended"
and beatifully crafted "Turn The Tide"
and "Skin". Album contains
also multimedia part: two video clips in AVI format of "Turn
The Tide" and "Forever In Love".
Taken together, it is a solid album from the project that is now getting
recognition Europe-wise and spreading. Sound sampler contains 6
tunes from this album!

another debut album. This time from Danish project JOHN THE WHISTLER
released in ... Asia. My understanding is that there is European release
but I am not sure where it can be obtained. This album was sent to
me by long time visitor Sandip from Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. JOHN
THE WHISTLER is a project of African born UMBERTO CARLI
who also written all the featured songs in this album. From his early
teen-years he liked to whistle (after all this is the sound he heard
in African jungle). Whistling is a leading motiv of this album produced
by him but also by such a prominent EURO
statue as AXEL BREITUNG. First single "I'm
In Love" spread fast and became very popular (e.g. high
position in dance charts in Norway, Denmark, Germany, Israel to name
the few). I am sure you heard it already, you probably didn't know
who was singing it. A very happy song, with nice rhythm and music
line and of course whistling. So catchy, you just want to sing along.
So are also other titles from this album such as "Tell
Me" just released as a single for instance. Almost entire
album is recorded in EURO-POP/DANCE style.
Very good dance release from this newcomer to dance scene. The music
is also quite original, so you should enjoy it very much so. I will
be closely observing how the career of JOHN THE WHISTLER develops.
As I said, I received this CD fron Sandip. He told me that if any
of you would like to get the album, he will buy it for you. Trust
me it is not going to dry your pocket. Leave him an E-mail at email@example.com
if you want to get it. For now enjoy the sound sampler featuring 7
tunes from this release!

Dance Balance - reviewed on 05/22/01
Artist: RIMINI PROJECT
Label: 2001 Sony Music (Austria)
Index #: 502 380-2
you thought that we are short of EURO
sound, you better revisit your opinion. Let me present you an oustanding
EURO album coming not from Germany, Sweden,
Denmark, Japan but from ... AUSTRIA.
Yes, you read it right. RIMINI PROJECT is recording in Austria,
yet the artists are of multinational origin. SCANDINAVIA -
Anna Louise Molander (the blond girl) born in 1974 comes from Hudiksvall
in Northern Sweden. SAMMY B - Samuel Oladipo Ajewole was born
in 1977 in Paris as his sister SARAH K - Ester Olaide Ajewole
that was born in Paris as well, but in 1979. Parents originally imigrated
from South Africa. You should be actually familiar with this project
already. They released three singles "Movin'
Around", "Sounds Good" and "Wake
Up". If you missed singles you have these titles in this
album. The album is simply DA BOMB!!! Group put together an excellent
set of 12 dance songs making this album one of the best recorded in
this genre. You will find here true classic EURO
sound it such tracks as "Wake Up"
, incredibly powerful "Sounds Good",
or "Bum Digi" in which SAMMY
B. do very good RAPPING in best EURO
style available around, bringing back memory of ICE MC. "Bum
Digi" does not only do that, as a matter of fact in the
middle of the tune TRANCE synths are
starting building up. This one is truly EURO
sound of 2001. Amazing dance and unbelievable production. This "new"
EURO sound is actually present in other
tunes. For instance "Sending SOS"
is enpowered with synths line to die for. The female vocals is outstanding
and melodic line unmatched. Same goes to Club Version of "Wake
Up". There are two versions of this tune , but Club Mix
is getting my two thumbs up. Melodic TRANCE/DREAM
evolving into dramatic EURO. This one
by far is one of my most favorite tracks from the album! Do you remember
SABRINA and her DISCO hit from
1984 "Boys (Summertime Love)"?
It was a huge hit at that time and is now classix. RIMINI PROJECT
did a remake of it in truly mesmerizing EURO
style. Another tune to look for in this album. Taken together so far
the BEST EURO ALBUM of 2001 if
I would vote today! Not to be missed by any of you who are serious
about that sound! The album will be hard to trace though. So far it
has been only released in Austria and is extremely hard to get even
if it is Sony release. The hunting will be exhausting but worth of
your effort. I promise! For now enjoy the sound sampler I prepared
featuring 6 tunes from this album!

Sexual Healing - reviewed on 05/18/01
Label: 2001 Intercord (Japan)
Index #: TOCP-64112
I know most of you who
cherish EURODANCE sound were waiting
for the album from the classic EURO act
E-ROTIC. Well... the wait is over, and the album is officially
out from May 09, 2001. It has been released in Japan, the country
that still fall for simple and melodic dance tunes. No wonder E-ROTIC
have fans in there. As a matter of fact E-ROTIC has fans all
over the world, however it seems that listeners of this style of music
are not powerful enough to inflict the proper pressure to the labels.
That is probably the reason why again E-ROTIC released this
album first in Japan. I am not sure if there are any immediate plans
for it to be released in Germany, the country where the project is
coming from. Once again BROS team of DAVID BRANDES, FELIX
J. GAUDER, GARY JONES, DOMENICO LABARILE have proven that they
are THE BEST writers and producers of EURO.
If there would be an award for LIFE ACHIEVEMENT in DANCE Music, they
surely would take one of the highest places to receive it. This new
album, takes you back to classic E-ROTIC sound characteristic
in their early albums. Sexually loaded lyrics, but in truly funny
and not exactly explicit way. Simply pure fun. You have 15 tunes in
this album and all of them are brand new. This is indeed an album
to have because the sound is exactly what happy EURO
was back in 95-97 (with an exception that FRED is gone and his place
took RALPH :-) ). BROS team did not incorporate too much of
the synth lines as it happens these days with many new EURO
tracks, but rather kept the original sound E-ROTIC is well
known from. There is however the remix of "Sexual
Healing" that actually contains some hard synth lines,
yet the version is breathtaking! Knowing some of you are constantly
not happy, I envision the critics like: Oh same thing as it was long
time before, why didn't they update the sound? On the other hand if
group would sound different, some of you would say: Why they do not
stick to original sound? So, tough luck and get over it! This is an
album for truly devoted, hard core EURODANCE
fans. All tracks are written by David Brandes, Jane Tempest and John
O'Flynn, however words to "Sexual Healing"
were co-written by CHRIS NORMAN. Yeah! he is still around!
I am not going to single out the titles, but the sound sampler I made,
features 10 !!! out of 15 tunes
from the album (mix starts with my favorite tune from this album:
"Tempt Me On The Line" a superb
EURO), so you can get a clear idea what
you are after. I am sure some of you will do anything possible to
get it, so let me warn you that it is not going to be a cheap treat.
I paid almost $34.00 including postage from the Japanese link below.
However, price will not be a stop factor to some of you who love and
adore the group!

Out Of The Blue - reviewed on 04/16/01
Artist: SYSTEM F.
Label: 2001 Tsunami / Purple Eye Entertainment (Holland)
Index #: TSU 1504
am sure that most of you embracing TRANCE
sound know exactly who FERRY CORSTEN is. SYSTEM F is
his pet project and under it's name we already were able to hear tracks
like "Out Of The Blue", "Cry"
or recently introduced "Soul On Soul".
FERRY being busy and sought after DJ and remixer had hard time
to finalize the album, but finally he did and the album hit the streets
on March 21, 2001. Now I am able to give you a short preview on what's
on here. FERRY has been a genious of TRANCE
and this album reflects it. The title song "Out
Of The Blue" became an uncrowned anthem of TRANCE.
Indeed, in this album you will find another treasures like this brand
new track "Soul On Soul" for
instance. The beginning of the tune is not really breathtaking but
it unfolds and unfolds HUGE! This tune was co-written with MARC ALMONDS
who also provided vocal to this one. Another TRANCE
monster is "Exhale". This one
was co-written with ARMIN VAN BUUREN. The combination of both guys
was fruitful and the track delivered big room stunner to die for.
With full orchestration and synth work you are being transported to
multi dimensions of space. Beatifully done. Pay special attention
to second part of this tune that will deliver goose bumps! Very powerful
and full blast TRANCE is also "Solstice".
This one brings a little bit of sound of GOURYELLA the project
of FERRY and DJ TIESTO. You will love the wavy character of
this tune and music is truly beatiful. Worth of mentioning is also
"Indian Summer". For this tune
FERRY invited Asian vocals courtesy of HEART OF ASIA.
While it is a TRANCE tune it has also
some TRIBAL sound built in it. There
are many other tunes, but be prepared for completely different sound.
For instance "Insolation" falls
into TECHNO/BREAK BEAT, "Needlejuice"
is almost ACID TECHNO, "Cry"
in it's unplugged version is ... JAZZY FREESTYLE.
No kidding! No matter what, this release is essential for all of you
who are devoted to FERRY's talent. The sound sampler features
6 track taken from this album. Enjoy!
